Welcome to Artstream!
The Artstream Project is a long-term service-learning project proposed by the art education program in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of North Georgia. In the future, Artstream hopes to become a portable art studio housed in a vintage Airstream trailer that brings hands-on creative experiences to groups in the north Georgia community with limited or no access to the visual arts.
Artstream's goals are:
I. To celebrate and expand the creative experience and joy of making things to venues such as community centers, assisted living facilities, YMCA, after school programs, home school groups, hospitals, and elementary, middle and high schools.
II. To bring art materials, ideas for projects, exposure to regional art forms, examples of visual artists, art making demonstrations, community exhibition and reflection opportunities to children, adolescents and marginalized populations in the North Georgia region.
III. To be a fixed outlet for service learning opportunities and field experiences for pre-service art teachers and to provide a unique teaching experience in a number of community venues in addition to traditional educational settings.
