Project Creator/Director: Dr. Chris Dockery
Dr. Dockery has been an educator for over ten years. Prior to her career in higher education, she owned and operated a community cooperative gallery space with classes for children and adults and taught workshops in a number of community venues. After seven years of teaching studio art at Piedmont College, she accepted a position at North Georgia College and State University as coordinator of the art education program in 2008.
She holds a BFA in Art Education from the University of Georgia, an MFA in Painting from Clemson University and a PhD in Art Education from the University of Georgia. Her research on the pedagogical and curricular implications of the Southern Highlands craft schools has been presented at a number of national conferences.
Publications to date include Finding Balance in Contemporary Foundations Programs. (2007) FATE in Review, Vol. 28, and Doctoral Research in Art Education: Marilyn Zurmuehlen Working Papers in Art Education. (2007) Online Journal. In addition to her scholarly work, she is the owner of One Room Studios and Hound Dog Democratic Press and exhibits her artwork both regionally and nationally.
